The Science of Muscle Building

 

 

Bodybuilding involves more than just lifting weights. It pays to have an understanding of human kinetics. How do muscles work?

 

Muscles develop by making them work. Muscles can only work when the body is in motion. They work extra when we are in full motion. Thus, to develop the muscles to the maximum, we must make them work to the best of our abilities. Hence, the bodybuilding principle of “No Pain, No Gain.”

 

You can’t grow your muscles by doing nothing. You have to move around a lot. The only thing that will grow in points of inertia, if you remain stationary, is your weight. If you want muscle growth and power, you must work your body methodically. Muscle training is called a workout.

 

Muscles can be toned (or conditioned) by regular activities like brisk walking, jogging, and doing other slightly heavy works. But toning muscles will not grow them in size and beauty. You have to do more —lots more — to have stunning muscles. You have to workout. By the very term “workout,” you can have a good idea of what it takes to grow muscles.

But they cannot exceed in performing beyond such tasks.

 

On the contrary, a fully developed muscle does not only allow you to do normal tasks; it is calibrated to reach its full potentials — far beyond what regulating muscles can do. Bodybuilding helps you develop your muscles to the extreme.

Tough Muscles Toughen You Up

 

 

The story goes that Clark Kent cannot even fight off a common street criminal unless he turns into Superman. As Superman, in a costume that is fitted to show off his bulging and well-defined muscles, he defeats even the meanest of alien creatures.

 

The story above may be fiction, but it mirrors a lot of truths in life. Muscles toughen you up. 

 

Imagine a body literally without muscles. You have a skeleton wrapped up in skin. That doesn’t look tough — scary, yes, but not tough. Well, nobody wants to be scary like that.

 

Just using enough sense, you will easily see that a body all beefed up with muscles aside from bones and skin can easily beat up the skeleton-and-bone individual.

 

Now let’s get more real. What would you rather be, skinny or muscular? Even some women today would rather have more muscles than more skin and bones. Why is this? We only have to look at the rules of survival.

 

Survival is fundamental. Anywhere you are on the planet, the name of the game is survival. People work hard everyday to survive. The reason why everybody eats is to survive, primarily. Hence, it is difficult to keep doing anything without the underlying motive of surviving.

 

The next question is, “why the need to survive?” The need to survive is there because of a threat. There is always a perceived threat of some kind, although it may not always be a physical threat. With all these observations, it is easy to conclude that having developed muscles is more preferable than being skinny.

 

It has been observed that many bodybuilders beef up their overall confidence once they begin to reap the benefits of muscle sculpturing. This fact shows even in securing employment. Better-bodied people show up in interviews more confident than the rest. Even in office promotions, body carriage and discipline often counts a lot. Aside from having the brains, employers often want people who carry themselves well to represent their company. They believe in first impressions that last.

 

We don’t need to mention the security one gets out of a muscled body during life-threatening moments. A bodybuilder has better chances of escaping far away from potential danger. He has more chances of stopping bullies from harassment. He is better able to protect his loved ones as well.
